Whats your understanding of CBI after the first class?

Thanks for Ali for sharing the philosophy of life and citical thinking of CBI. The most impressive empathy for me is the part of divergence and convergence that we really need curtail and integrate sth in our life. So dear folks, may you share ideas that occured to you on CBI class.

After the first class, I am fully impressed by the music time Ali shared with us, give chance for our mind, to stop. We are used to push or to be pushed everyday. But we need time and room for ourselves. Like ‘DaXue’ said,' To stop, then you can be fixed; to be fixed, then you can be quiet, to be quiet, then your mind can be at ease; to be at ease in mind, can you really think which can come to fruit of many great ideas.

How much content we can still recall after almost one month after the class? Professor Ali tested us actually right after the 1st time class. To me, how much exactly we can recall seems is not that important, the important is that whether we will try to make improvement or changes as we wanted at the beginning we thought we would when we were touched by a story or a sentence at the class.

To be honest, the first course of my MBA journey really surprised me, not only for the two pieces of long long working paper,of course it won't be easy at all, but the different way of thinking and finding clues, which I've been always desired to try but never succeeded. Hopefully with such a beginning, later on we shall open our mind and try something through a different angle.

There are two topics in the class which impressed me a lot. One is we need focus, the other one is the management work need the sense of art, science and craft.
In nowadays we are surrounded by the sea of information and often got interrupted, just look at the mailbox, the weixin, the text message of advertisement, etc. I decided to reduce the frequencey to check weixin after the course.
Prior to the course I understand managment work need the sense of science for systematic analysis, and the sense of art for vision and creativity, but the sense of craft was not put into the important position. I will give more focus to craft in future, practis again and again, keep improving the management skill.

The most impressive thing I remember after the CBI first class is the importance of synthesis. Since I work as marketer in a FMCG company, all I am dealing with every day is about analyze detailed information, like new product development, TV commercial and sales information. I am busy with pieces of information from time to time. This synthesis thing (the analogy of putting components of watch back together) really knocks me out that how important we should handle things with a whole picture of it as well.

Before the class, I always think about several questions: Why did we come to the world? What does life mean to us? What does death mean to us? Well, Professor Ali showed similar topics at his first slide which make me very interested on the CBI course... And after the class, what I learnt was everything would go back to the topics he listed on first slide. These topics may accompany us whole life. Anyway, Ali shocked me...

Less reading textbook, more sharing your own idea bravely!

I was really impressed by the first class of CBI delivered by Professor Ali. We were always encouraged to think out of the box and didn't know that we have already been restricted by the box we meant. I like the explanation of creativity and idea and will always bear in mind that" creativity is the ability to find the connection for unconnected things." and "idea is the connection of the differenct neuron"!
